Real-Time Simulator based on RT-LAB simulation platform enables development of DO-178b & DO-254 certified platforms for testing, simulation, Verification & Validation of complex aerospace control systemsJune 10, 2009 - Montreal, QuebecOpal-RT Technologies Inc. (www.Opal-RT.com) today announced eFLYsim - a Real-Time Simulator and Open- & Closed-Loop Testing platform specifically designed to meet the needs of design engineers and simulation specialists across the aerospace industry.
The launch of eFLYsim strengthens Opal-RT’s lineup of Real-Time Simulators which currently includes eMEGAsim, primarily designed for simulation and study of very large electrical power grids and related power electronics; and eDRIVEsim, designed for the simulation and study of electric drives, Hybrid Electric Vehicle systems and related power electronics.
eFLYsim is based on RT-LAB®, Opal-RT’s flagship Real-Time Simulation software environment, and provides a flexible, open and easily scalable platform for use in a number of aerospace-specific engineering applications including:
In addition to being fully integrated with MATLAB®/Simulink® from The MathWorks Inc. (www.TheMathWorks.com), eFLYsim is already proven in DO-178B Level A-certified applications for Validation & Verification of mission-critical engine control systems.
“Aerospace engineers face increasingly stringent standards for the design of complex mission-critical control systems. As a result, the demand for development, simulation, and testing platforms that can comply with these standards has dramatically risen,” said Jean Belanger, President of Opal-RT Technologies Inc. “The launch of eFLYsim means that aerospace engineers now have access to Real-Time Simulation and Open- & Closed-Loop test technologies that enables them to customize test benches to meet both their development needs and requirements for DO-178b and DO-254 certification.”
eFLYsim is currently used by a number of organizations in the aerospace industry including Aviya Technologies Inc, Embraer, EADS, CS Canada, Canadian Department of National Defence, Honeywell, Hispano-Suiza, Pratt & Whitney Canada, and NASA.
Aviya Technologies Inc. (www.AviyaTech.com), a Canadian company specializing in the design and testing of mission-critical control systems for aerospace and defence applications, has recently used eFLYsim in the development of test bench products that have received DO-178b Level A and DO-254 certification, aerospace industry standards relating to the design of complex electronic hardware and software used in airborne systems.
Aviya’s Open- & Closed-Loop Test Bench for conducting Validation and Verification of engine controllers is used by aerospace customers to verify controller designs and ensure that they operate according to specifications. Customers can also use the Aviya Test Bench for conducting Open-Loop testing of systems such as landing gear.
The company is also commercializing an FPGA Test Bench that takes advantage of the eFLYsim platform. Aviya’s FPGA Test Bench represents an evolutionary quantum leap in test bench technology development. Where engineers would have previously used technologies such as storage oscilloscopes for the capture and study of waveforms, the eFLYsim platform now enables Aviya’s customers to easily capture a greater number of digital output signals and compare them to expected results, and to easily automate test cases.
The use of FPGA technology also enables the engineer to conduct Validation & Verification of the systems under study.
eFLYsim is now available direct from Opal-RT and via the company’s authorized distributors in Canada, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, and China. For more information, visit www.Opal-RT.com.
